DoubleΓ½ Elimination: Two Weeks of Focused Play
Starting Monday, we're kicking off our monthly Double Elimination event.
Before you see the word tournament and assume this is all about winning, take a breath.
This event is designed around focused play and personal reflection.
Yes, there is competition. Competition can be fun. Most of us enjoy seeing how we stack up against the field. But the real value isn't in beating someone else. The real value is in noticing how you respond to the challenge.
Double elimination means you're not "one and done." You stay in the event until you've lost twice. For many players, that means you'll only play about once every couple of days. The entire experience unfolds over roughly two weeks, giving everyone time to participate without feeling rushed.
Each round takes only a few minutes. Play your nine holes. Do your best. Then take a moment to reflect.
Did you feel pressure?
Did you enjoy the competition?
Did you rush your shots?
Did you play differently knowing there was a bracket involved?
Those observations are often more valuable than the scorecard.
One of the advantages of this event is that participation can be as public or as private as you want it to be. You can simply play, reflect, and learn from the experience. No spotlight required.
Before each round, take a moment to review the Round and Loop material. After each round, complete the reflection form. That's where most of the learning happens.
This event only comes around once each month. Take advantage of it.
Play the game.
Notice your reactions.
Learn something about yourself.
Everything else is just a score.
